Registration Agreement

For a smoother registration experience, please read the forum introductory message before proceeding.

Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also forbidden on this forum. Appropriate sanctions (usually account deletion) will be applied.

Data uploaded onto this site, e.g. chemical analyses in the form of a MELTS input file, should be considered as unpublished material unless clearly stated otherwise. If you use this material in your own work, you are responsible for contacting the original author and asking for the correct published reference or permission to include a personal communication. Similarly, if you are posting material it would be helpful to others to indicate the source. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information presented. Posted messages express the views of the author, and not necessarily the views of the forum staff or the MELTS software developers. The staff and the owner of this forum reserve the right to remove objectionable or inappropriate content, within a reasonable time frame, if they determine that removal is necessary.

You remain solely responsible for the content of your posted messages and profile information. You have the ability, as you register, to choose your username. We advise that you keep the name appropriate. You also agree to NEVER use another person's account for any reason.  We also HIGHLY recommend you use a complex and unique password for your account, to prevent account theft.

On the MAGMA@Caltech website we follow Simple Machines's simple privacy policy: that is, we collect personal information about you only when you knowingly and willingly provide it, and we will not share or otherwise profit from the distribution of personal data beyond the use it was provided to fulfill.

If you are concerned about privacy then you may choose to hide your e-mail address, even from registered members, and you may use an alias for your username and/or display name. For more details see the forum introductory message.

Also note that the software places a cookie, a text file containing bits of information (such as your username and password), in your browser's cache. This is ONLY used to keep you logged in/out. The software does not collect or send any other form of information to your computer.
