Version 1.7 was posted on October 14th, 2016.

Version 1.7 is mainly a bug fix, although it is now possible to have different partition coefficients for plagioclase and alkali feldspar. For more details about this and previous releases, please see the *README* link on the alphaMELTS download site.

VM (virtual machine) alphaMELTS has also been updated to v1.7. Note that a newer VM alphaMELTS will be available in the next couple of weeks. It will still be v1.7, but will be based on Lubuntu 16.04 LTS and will include a much updated, though still beta, version of alphaMELTS 2 (see here). If you use the virtual machine, we recommend waiting for that release if possible.

In addition, the alphaMELTS download site, the MAGMA website, and the forum have all been moved to a new server. The URL is the same (magmasource.caltech.edu). Some parts are still under construction; in particular, most options for the binary phase diagram movies and the xMELTS spinel volume calculator will not work. Apologies in advance for any downtime whilst things continue to be updated. In the meantime, you can access any missing functionality on the old server (now located at melts.caltech.edu).

The website now has its own email addresses, as using Gmail became increasingly impractical once we went over ~500 forum members. Please ensure that emails from "noreply AT magmasource DOT caltech DOT edu" and "forum AT magmasource DOT caltech DOT edu" are not blocked by spam filters. Any problems, please contact me directly - see the MAGMA or alphaMELTS home pages for details.

Thanks!
Paula
