What's new on the MAGMA site? You can also keep up to date with all software in the MELTS family
(including our alphaMELTS interface and the newest MELTS model, Rhyolite-MELTS) on Facebook.
27th Sep 2017: The melts.caltech.edu website has been retired, as (almost) all functionality has
now been transfered to the newer, faster server. Many updates and improvements have been made, especially to
the Phase Diagram Movie server.
5th Oct 2016: The MAGMA website has been moved to a newer, faster server. Some functionality
has not been transferred yet (e.g. GitList, some Phase Diagram Movie and xMELTS calculator features).
These are available on the old server, which is now located at melts.caltech.edu. A new website including DOME (the Database Of MELTS Examples)
is under construction.
17th Sep 2014: We are pleased to announce a three day workshop at Caltech,
Thermodynamic modeling with alphaMELTS and other MELTS software, with guest instructor
Mark Ghiorso. The workshop will be held December 11th - 14th, 2014, immediately prior to the AGU Fall
meeting. Participant support funds from NSF, available through grant EAR-1226270, allow us
to offer the course free of charge and with substantial to complete travel support for all attendees.
27th Sep 2017: The Phase Diagram Movie server, GitList, and other features have been transfered to
the newer, faster server. The only missing fuctionality is the spinel volume calcualator on the xMELTS page;
this will be made available again soon.
5th Sep 2014: The rest of the website, specifically the Geodynamics and xMELTS sections,
have been converted to the (not so) new MAGMA format. As ever, please let us know if you find any
broken links or parts of the site that are not working correctly.
19th Aug 2014: A recent upgrade to Apache broke Gitweb (including links, such as the
alphaMelts README.TXT). Gitweb has been replace with GitList. Links should be redirected automatically
but if you find any that are broken (or that end up at the GitList top directory when you were expecting
a specific file) then please let us know.
15th Mar 2013: The movies site has been mostly converted to the new MAGMA
website format. Movies are being updated and are now available for broswers / devices that support either
Flash or HTML5 (includes iPad). See the Movie news for more details.
7th Feb 2013: The MAGMA website has a new design! Not all parts of the website have been migrated yet
but they will be gradually over the new few weeks. As a result, services may occasionally be interrupted. We
apologise for any inconvenience caused.
