Versions 1.9 and 1.8.1 of alphaMELTS were posted in September (originally late August, but the VM alphaMELTS 1.9 installation of the alphaMELTS 2 beta since had a bug fix, and I have been updating many of the relevant forum posts).

Version 1.8.1 was a bug-fix release, and is now included in the alphaMELTS 1.8 archive. Version 1.9 is the same as 1.8.1, except that it also includes some functionality from alphaMELTS 2 for forwards compatibility e.g. more melts_file lines from the graphical user interface are recognized, particularly if you use the '-m melts_file' switch with run_alphamelts.command. As (native) alphaMELTS 2 will only be available for 64-bit machines, alphaMELTS 1.9 is only available for 64-bit machines but 32-bit support will continue with VM alphaMELTS VM alphaMELTS 1.9 is completely new, and based on Lubuntu 16.04. It contains an updated alphaMELTS 2 beta for and the VMD program, as well as alphaMELTS 1.9, rhyolite-MELTS and the Meltsout program.

All current Quick start using MELTS posts have been updated and a new version added for alphaMELTS 2. We also have a new MELTS for MATLAB interface, which is currently being tested and is available on request. MELTS for MATLAB currently lacks documentation but a version of the 'Quick start using MELTS tutorial' will be posted later this week. We will be rolling out alphaMELTS 2 and MELTS for MATLAB properly at the alphaMELTS workshop in December, prior to the AGU Fall Meeting, 2018. Workshop registration opens later today so consider signing up!

Cheers,
Paula
